    • Reference: 2011/0084-1
    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey

What representations has the Chairman made to the Mayor about the use of LFEPA's large financial reserves?
  • LIFE Scheme (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2011
Can I echo James Cleverly's remarks from our side in terms of the support and praise to the whole service during the course of the recent events. Chair, if I can deal with that aspect first - the first part of James' [Cleverly] question - then move on to mine specifically in a moment. The Chairman referred to the Enfield Sony depot fire, but can I ask the Commissioner, given the references in the previous questioning - that I know you heard - to the fires in Tottenham and in Croydon on Monday night and the iconic image of fires...
  • London's fire stations

    • Reference: 2010/0104-1
    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2010
During your periods in post as Chair and Commissioner respectively, will any London fire station be permanently closed or have its opening hours restricted?
  • Cuts (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2010
I want to return to the question of closures when we get to my question. I want, here, to focus on this question of budgetary matters. Firstly, could I ask the Commissioner to confirm the advice given in the finance paper on Monday that, on the level of reserves, the exposure for medium and high risk are assessed at a minimum level of £10.9 million? So a figure of £10 million or £11 million is the officer advice about the minimum level of reserves?
  • Budget Savings (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 03 December 2008
I am tempted to ask, in keeping with the Lynne Featherstone callout question, which budget paid for the 21 gun salute that greeted your attendance here this morning that we were enjoying while you were going on! The serious point, Chairman, is that - as you yourself said - there is no one party with overall control of the Authority and, therefore, these important matters of financing of the emergency services should be a matter of proper discussion and dialogue between the parties. You have made it clear that you personally do not want to follow the Mayor's guidance, which...
  • Community Fire Safety Work (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 08 November 2006
Indeed. That is showing up in the home safety checks which I think have risen from around 9,000 a couple of years ago to approximately 20,000 in the year that has just ended and the target for the current year is approximately 30,000. Even if you add all that up, that is 40,000-50,000 home safety checks. One or two per cent of Londoners have had a home safety check. Should we not be looking for a real huge step forward in this area?
  • Removal of Beds in Fire Stations (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 08 November 2006
I have to say that I am surprised to see this question here, and it can only have come here because the Chair of the Authority has chosen to brief her colleagues on this. This matter is being debated, I thought, through the Chair's Coordinating Group which is normally a confidential body while options are discussed. Will the Chair confirm that there is no dispute that there are clearly variable natures of work between night and day? The crucial point is to establish that on the night shift there is no question of people being paid to sleep on the...
  • Sickness levels

    • Reference: 2003/0322
    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 12 November 2003
Why has the Authority's sickness absence remained so stubbornly high, despite being highlighted by Her Majesty's Inspectorate over a year ago as one of the worst in the country? .
  • London Resilience

    • Reference: 2003/0324
    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 12 November 2003
Can you clarify the latest position on London Resilience funding? Are you concerned at the speed and manner in which the government is handling this important issue? .
  • London Resilience (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 12 November 2003
    I agree. Who pays?
