Unmesh Desai AM: Dr Jameel, the criteria for vaccination in the UK has been to protect the NHS. Other countries have prioritised younger people to support the economy. Is that strategy working? Is it the right one? The reason I am asking this question is that it is important that Londoners know and understand the scientific and medical evidence upon which we are working.

The Commissioner, in the TfL Board report of 25 July [2018] stated, “Crossrail remains on course to open as planned in December”. Sir Terry, on 6 June, when the Transport Committee visited Tottenham Court Road with you, you gave me an absolute assurance that the opening of Crossrail would be in December. I want to ask about the experience of the passengers who are waiting to use this line but before I get on to those questions I want to pick up on something that Sir Terry said at the very beginning. You said, “We mitigated one risk and others materialised”. I wonder if you could expand on that a bit more, whether that is what has caused this decision about the delay.

Just going on from John's [Biggs] friendly question, you outlined many, many priorities for next year and, if anything, the first observation is maybe there are too many. Can you possibly lose focus as a result and what kind of managerial systems have you got to make sure that you can cover all the ground? For example, the two additional ones that I had were implementing the Mayor's Housing Strategy and the sporting provision and the youth service. Now those are clearly new areas on top of your Olympic responsibilities, as well as the climate change work.
