  • Living Wage (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
    • Meeting date: 21 October 2009
Murad Qureshi (AM): I just want to continue on Richard Tracey's theme, actually, and I think it is a major reputational risk for the ODA, quite honestly, these whole bonuses that you have been giving yourselves. I just want to be clear; how can the ODA possibly justify raking in £2.6 million in salaries and bonuses when there is a funding shortfall for the Olympic sports' venues themselves, and the land assembly in particular?
  • Lessons Learned from the Beijing Olympic Games (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
    • Meeting date: 08 October 2008
Like yourself I was there as a spectator but I did not have any privilege access like yourselves to what was happening during that whole month of festivities. There were one or two things I picked up which I think are pertinent. The first is on the transport. It was not just the investment they made but they also dropped prices, quite considerably, so most people used it quite happily. A similar thing happened in Athens. They said afterwards they managed to move the modal shift by 10% from private vehicles to public transport. I do not know if we...
  • Outer London Boroughs (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Thank you, Mayor. One council leader that I have recently spoken to was very keen to see the refurbishment of much of the leisure facilities in their local authority. I am just wondering if, on the back of the Olympics, you can see a vehicle for this occurring. In some ways, if there is an upgrading of facilities, it would be quite astonishing if at one end of town we have elite sports facilities, and at the other we still have grotty facilities, which most residents have to live with.
  • Funding (Supplementary) [6]

    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
I just wanted to delve into the funding arrangements with the IOC and television revenues. It is clear to me, after Beijing we will probably see huge expansion in the world television market ' almost by 30%. I was wondering whether we should try to get a percentage of the television revenue, rather than a total amount.

  • Television Rights

    • Reference: 2005/0343-1
    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
How much revenue do you anticipate will be generated for London from the TV broadcasting rights of the 2012 Olympics? Bearing in mind commentators anticipate this market will continue to increase rapidly, should we push to keep the fixed percentage formula granted to previous host cities and that Beijing will get in 2008, or will London be better off taking a set amount, thus adopting the change as planned for the 2012 Olympics?
