    • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
    • Meeting date: 07 December 2011
You are looking for a balance between a police force and a police service under the effective policing banner. What steps are you going to take about the language and the pictures - people support the police and hopefully you are going to get the bad people that cause crimes against communities and individuals. The media in the past months, as the language and the rhetoric goes out, what steps are you going to take to address that? You seem to have done it there. • Meeting date: 07 December 2011
Are you aware, Commissioner, and you, Chair, that the points made by the noble Baroness [Dee Doocey] about the custody centres in Richmond and Kingston probably bear a closer relationship to the fact that there are local by-elections next week in the area than any attention to the facts. What has the Met done in the last two years and what does it intend to do to keep London safe?

    • Question by: Tony Arbour

  • Sentencing (2)

    • Reference: 2010/0161-1
    • Question by: Tony Arbour
    • Meeting date: 10 November 2010
What kind of message are we sending out to criminals and victims of crime, each time a criminal avoids a jail sentence? Won't the reduction in custodial sentencing encourage crime? How will the news - that plans for a new 1,500-place prison have been deferred and that custodial sentencing will be reduced - affect crime in the capital?
