In 2005-06 the two highest salaries paid by the LDA were one salary in the range £190-200k and one salary in the range £130-£140k. In 2006-07 the LDA paid two salaries in the range £210-£220k. Which posts attracted these salaries, and how do you justify increases of approximately 10% and 60% respectively in the two highest salaries at a time when average pay increases were closer to 3%?
In 2005-06 the LDA had 66 employees paid in excess of £50,000 per annum. By 2006-07 this had increased to 107. How do you justify this increase? How many salaries in excess of £50k are being paid in 2007-08?
There is clear evidence from Athens and other Olympic cities that hosting the Olympic Games has a severe negative impact on visitor levels. Has Visit London undertaken any studies of this phenomenon and what will it be doing to limit damage to the adversely affected tourist industry in 2012?
On what basis does the LDA provide funding for events like the London Fashion Week? Is there any calculation for funding based on how successful the particular industry is financially and whether that industry could provide its own support?
So, it is rather a meaningless figure, is it not, actually in reality, because it does not give a true picture of those people who need to be helped into work.
