  • Climate Change Action Plan and London's Buildings (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 16 January 2008
Given that the Assembly's Environment Committee investigation into the barriers that ordinary Londoners faced in terms of greening their homes showed that one of the biggest barriers that Londoners faced, even though they were enthusiastic about wanting to do something, was the lack of practical advice and information, does it not suggest that the comparatively low take-up we have seen so far suggests we need a more aggressive marketing campaign that reaches Londoners rather than less emphasis on marketing and getting the message out?
  • Climate Change Action Plan and London's Buildings (Supplementary) [8]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 16 January 2008
Would you also agree that, rather than simply just expecting people to come to you for advice and information, we need to see more of what has been happening in Lewisham where council officers have been going directly to peoples' own homes on a door-to-door basis and offering that advice directly?
  • Racism and Sexism (Supplementary) [6]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 10 December 2003
Given that those responsible for racist and sexist behaviour in the force have often been responsible for homophobic behaviour as well, can you outline how homophobia is tackled as part of the programme of initiatives that Toby outlined?
  • Staffing (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 11 June 2003
Just as Bob said the absence of graffiti on the network would give vital reassurance to people in terms of safety, do you not agree that the presence of staff on the stations provides the same sort of vital reassurance to people on safety issues? It is not only going to be psychological; it is also going to be practical. There will be practical benefits of tackling graffiti, safety, crime issues, or whatever and you do need a visible presence there. CCTV cameras in themselves will not be sufficient. You do need to maintain that staff presence.

Can I ask Nicky and Victor for their views as well on this?
  • Incinerators (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 13 November 2002
You made a public statement, I think it was a month or so ago, saying that if you were Mayor you would take a more radical approach on waste and recycling than the current Mayor. If that's the case, what changes would you like to see made to the Waste Strategy to make it a more radical vision?
