  • Walworth Road Project (3)

    • Reference: 2007/0203-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
The Walworth Road project is part funded by TfL and has received its approval. I have received complaints from blind and partially sighted residents who tell me that in some areas where the road has been raised to the same level as the pavement, Southwark Council has not laid tactile paving to enable them to differentiate between the pavement and the road. What is TfL doing to ensure that this scheme does comply with DfT accessibility standards?
  • Walworth Road Project (4)

    • Reference: 2007/0204-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
The Walworth Road project is part funded by TfL and has received its approval. Many residents are extremely sceptical that the completed scheme will be an improvement. They are worried about the lack of barriers to prevent small children running into the road, that the reduction in the number of traffic lights will make it difficult to cross the road safely and that bus journey times will increase substantially due to the removal of the bus lanes. How will TfL access the success or failure of this scheme?
  • Service Standards for Responses to Enquiries

    • Reference: 2007/0205-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
Most Local Authorities have adopted a service standard of responding to enquiries within 10 working days. When it is not possible to respond fully within this timeframe they give reasons and a target response date. In recent months a number of my enquiries have taken two months or more to receive a response with no explanation for the delay. Will TfL follow the example of local authorities and adopt a 10 working days standard for response to enquiries?

  • Oyster

    • Reference: 2007/0207-1
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
I have read in the press, and heard directly from constituents, that some drivers are letting passengers with insufficient funds on their Oyster cards board the bus. Are drivers expected in any way to regulate the use of tickets on their buses?
  • Direct bus from Barking to Queen's Hospital

    • Reference: 2007/0208-1
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
Will TfL review its decision to not provide a direct link between Barking and the Queen's Hospital in Romford? Although direct services exist from other local areas, the busy transport interchange at Barking lacks a direct link to the hospital, with passengers having to change buses and therefore pay two Oyster or cash fares in each direction.
  • Queen Street Place/Upper Thames Street Junction

    • Reference: 2007/0209
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
Please can you impose a timetable for the safety redesign of this busy junction? It has been over three and a half years since TfL began designing safety improvements at this location, and a new design is still awaited. What is the current progress of the redesign?
  • Pickpockets on Bendy Buses

    • Reference: 2007/0210
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
How effective have policing teams and new CCTV been in reducing pickpocket offences on bendy buses?
  • 205 to Stratford

    • Reference: 2007/0211-1
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
East London bus passengers have reported great improvements since the 205 route was extended to Mile End, which has taken pressure off the congested 25 route. Will TfL revisit the proposal to extend the 205 all the way to Stratford? Although the proposed 425 between Clapton and Stratford is via Mile End, this will create a disjointed journey for passengers wishing to travel the length of Mile End Road/Bow Road.
  • Bus Services for Residents along Western Avenue, Auriel Way and Manor Road

    • Reference: 2007/0212-1
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
Further to TfL's decision not to supply a bus service linking residents to their new surgery on Church Elm Lane, what other bus services could be considered prior to the review in 2009? The residents on the eastern side of this residential area are extremely isolated, being nearly a kilometre from the nearest regular service, and only has a 900 series bus serving their streets once a week.
