The Police and Justice Bill - or Act as it very nearly is - will require every local authority to set up a Community Safety Scrutiny Committee which again will add to the complexities of the local arrangements we are discussing. • Transport Safer Neighbourhood Teams

    • Reference: 2006/0337-1
    • Question by: Graham Tope
    • Meeting date: 08 November 2006
Why don't the Transport Safer Neighbourhood Teams include any warranted Police Constables or Sergeants? Is it because the MPS is awash with funding for Police Community Safety Officers but not police officers?
  • Transport Safer Neighbourhood Teams (3)

    • Reference: 2006/0339-1
    • Question by: Graham Tope
    • Meeting date: 08 November 2006
Doesn't TfL's 3 October 06 press release which states that: 'the Police Community Support Officers would be deployed in mobile 'transport teams' in suburban areas and outer London boroughs and could be deployed to different parts of London on a weekly basis' directly contradict Assistant Commissioner Tim Godwin's report to the Coordinating and Policing Committee on 5 October 06 which states that: 'the teams will be ring fenced from abstractions'? Why is this confusion apparent after the Mayor's public announcement of the proposal?
