  • Question and Answer Session: London Legacy Development Corporation (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 16 March 2023
Siân Berry AM: Thank you very much, Chair. My question is to Lyn to begin with. I want to ask about the issue with changing the housing tenures in planning applications. One of the residents has raised concerns with me about developers applying to change the planning permission they have for residential development into student accommodation. It is plot N16 in East Village. It is Get Living. They plan to replace 188 homes with 520 student beds. Included in those 188 homes in the existing planning application, we would lose 31 three-bedroom family homes. Also, you have loads of student...

    • Meeting date: 16 March 2023
Unmesh Desai AM: Good morning, Lyn. Good morning, Lord Hendy. If I could ask you, Lyn, how can the return of the planning powers to local boroughs be used as an opportunity to change the way that local residents can be engaged in planning earlier in the process?

That quote from Ken Livingstone ends with, “Build the housing”. Therefore I want to ask about housing and particularly overcrowding. Within the convergence framework that resulted, there were...

    • Question by: Unmesh Desai
    • Meeting date: 06 October 2022
Unmesh Desai AM: Thank you, Chair. Good afternoon, panel. My question is about the demands of policing mega events and it is to you, Lyn. The policing operation for the Olympics was huge and a success. However, one of the problems with policing mega events, as a Government report made clear in 2020, is the coordination between multiple agencies. With the current and anticipated increasing footfall in the Stratford area with the ABBA [Voyage] Arena and the proposed MSG Sphere, how are you working with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), the British Transport Police (BTP) and other agencies to meet...
