  • London Underground Hours of Operation at Weekends

    • Reference: 2005/2292
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2005
I welcome the re-think by TfL on weekend running hours for the Underground because of the high number of workers who use the tube in its first hour of operation on a Sunday. Have you made an initial evaluation of the results of the stakeholder consultation that ended on 12th December? When would you expect the changes to be implemented?
  • Ticket office closures at over ground rail stations

    • Reference: 2005/2295
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2005
My constituents in Chingford and Highams Park are often unable to buy tickets for the Chingford Line in the afternoon because the ticket offices are closed. I have received similar complaints about stations on the North London Line. The fact that these stations are frequently unstaffed is not only inconvenient for passengers, but it leaves them feeling unsafe. Would you agree with me that this is an unacceptable level of service?
  • Wood Street Station - CCTV

    • Reference: 2005/2302
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2005
I was heartened when you responded positively to my question raised on 15th December 2004 (ref:1765/2004) and joined me in pressing for the installation of CCTV at Wood Street Station, following a fatal stabbing. However, although funds of £0.8 million were pledged in TfL's London Rail Business Plan for 2005/6 to go to the rail operator ONE to improve customer security, no Customer Information screens or help points have been introduced at Wood Street Station and a defective light on the platform where the murder took place remains unreplaced. Will you use your influence to ensure that my constituents get...
  • Cyclists Ban on the Gospel Oak to Barking Line

    • Reference: 2005/2311
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2005
Further to my question 2099/2005 about the difficulties cyclists in Waltham Forest have been experiencing since Silverlink Train Operating Company imposed restrictions on them taking their bikes onto the Gospel Oak to Barking Line during peak hours, there have been new developments. Silverlink and TfL have put in a bid to provide 3 extra trains during peak hours, which is excellent news. Now that extra capacity has been created, would you support my call for cyclists to be allowed back on this line?
  • TfL's Advertising Space

    • Reference: 2005/2071
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 16 November 2005
Will you be using the advertising space owned by TfL to get the message across to Londoners of the benefits of switching to Oyster pre-pay in time for the implementation of the 2006 bus and tubes fares package? What about using the backs of tickets?
  • Cashless Fares System

    • Reference: 2005/2078
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 16 November 2005
The 2006 bus and tubes fares package aims to encourage those who can to move to a cashless system when buying tickets. However, some Londoners will need to continue to use cash to top up their Oyster pre-pay by small amounts, sometimes just enough for a single journey. Where will Londoners be able to do this and how will you advertise how this can be done?
  • Saver Six

    • Reference: 2005/2093
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 16 November 2005
Will the Saver Six continue to be available?
  • Carnet Tickets

    • Reference: 2005/2094
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 16 November 2005
Will Carnet tickets continue to be available?
  • Single Zone Travelcards

    • Reference: 2005/2095
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 16 November 2005
Is it the case that all single zone travelcards will be discontinued? This will have a particularly negative impact on my constituents who use overground rail (eg. Gospel Oak to Barking Line and North London line), as they cannot get the benefits of Oyster pre-pay. Will you consider retaining single zone travelcards until agreement can be reached with the Train Operating Companies on the use of Oyster pre-pay?
  • Thameslink Box at St Pancras Station

    • Reference: 2005/2096
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 16 November 2005
Can you update me on TfL's discussions with the Department for Transport regarding the feasibility of a package to try and ensure that the new station at St Pancras is opened by the start of International Services in 2007?
