    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 10 December 2003
Given that those responsible for racist and sexist behaviour in the force have often been responsible for homophobic behaviour as well, can you outline how homophobia is tackled as part of the programme of initiatives that Toby outlined?
  • Step Change and Public Expectations (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 10 December 2003
One of the most interesting initiatives over the past couple of years has been the introduction of a number of cycle patrols by police officers. What role do you think they have to play in the Step Change programme and what sort of increase have you seen so far?
  • Staffing (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 11 June 2003
Just as Bob said the absence of graffiti on the network would give vital reassurance to people in terms of safety, do you not agree that the presence of staff on the stations provides the same sort of vital reassurance to people on safety issues? It is not only going to be psychological; it is also going to be practical. There will be practical benefits of tackling graffiti, safety, crime issues, or whatever and you do need a visible presence there. CCTV cameras in themselves will not be sufficient. You do need to maintain that staff presence.

  • Wildlife Crime Unit (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson

The Mayor's Biodiversity Strategy talks about the Mayor will work with the MPA and Customs on illegal trade in endangered species. Can I ask what liaison has taken place so far?
  • Commander Paddick (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 13 November 2002
Are you suggesting that had no controversy come up about the cannabis pilots, had no controversy come up from allegations from a former partner, all the rest of it - had this controversy not arisen, then Commander Paddick would still be removed from Lambeth anyway?
  • Commander Paddick (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 13 November 2002
Is this the right way to treat someone who's been cleared by the Crown Prosecution Service, been cleared by the internal inquiry, yet remains sidelined in a job - whilst it's an important job - is not the job that Brian Paddick was doing, and is not something that fully utilises his skills?
  • Commander Paddick (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 13 November 2002
There is a perception, a widespread perception, that Brian Paddick has been rather shabbily treated by both the MPA and the MPS on this issue. I think it leaves the MPA's image somewhat tarnished. What are you going to do to try and restore confidence, particularly in Lambeth, in both the MPA and the policing service generally?
