  • New Year's Resolution (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Caroline Russell
    • Meeting date: 21 December 2023
Caroline Russell AM: Thank you, Chair. As my new year resolution for City Hall, I think we can all agree that the office of the Mayor of London should not be for sale in the new year. I made public earlier this week that United Airlines secured free publicity and final sign off on City Hall materials in exchange for business class flights for your trip to the United States [of America] (USA) in May 2022. Now, Mr Mayor, it sounds like this may have been a one-off error of judgement, but the months-long delay in responding to our questions...

A constituent has contacted me about the Transport for London (TfL) requirement that all taxis must have a tighter turning circle than standard cars, and has asked if you could produce evidence-based analysis of the tyre pollution created by taxis completing tight U-turns in comparison to standard cars performing U-turns?

Thank you for your answer to question 2023/3079, in which you said the loans made by the Green Finance Fund will be financed with “GLA’s working capital and reserve cash balances that it holds from time to time”. Were these reserve cash balances and working capital available in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and would such internal borrowing have been permitted in those years?

The 30 June 2023 report, Greater London Authority air quality exposure and inequalities study, from Aether, highlights that the most deprived communities and that Black, Mixed Multiple and Other populations are more likely to live in the most polluted areas. • Reference: 2023/3096
    • Question by: Caroline Russell
    • Meeting date: 20 July 2023
The 30 June 2023 report, Greater London Authority air quality exposure and inequalities study, from Aether, highlights that the most deprived communities and that Black, Mixed Multiple and Other populations are more likely to live in the most polluted areas, yet: “Despite progress towards meeting the WHO targets, the disparity in exposure by ethnicity is not expected to change over time without further significant action.” Could you tell me what action over air pollution you are taking to reduce these disparities with regard to income and ethnicity, and what targets, if any, you are working towards?
  • Oral Update to the Mayor's Report (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Caroline Russell
    • Meeting date: 22 June 2023
Caroline Russell AM: Thank you, Chair. Just very briefly, we in the Green Group are deeply concerned by the new evidence that has emerged that the Mayor has just raised involving the conduct of a member of the Police and Crime Committee, which I chair. All of us in the Assembly have a responsibility to uphold the highest standards in public office. We are the voice of London and Londoners expect us to abide by the law. I personally would like to request a meeting with the leader of the Conservative Group to discuss this matter and I would just...

  • State of London Debate 2022

    • Reference: 2023/0646
    • Question by: Caroline Russell
    • Meeting date: 23 February 2023
On their way into the State of London Debate 2022, a number of young people from Green New Deal Rising (GNDR) were identified by a plain clothes official who recognised their faces and called out their names. The young people involved are understandably concerned about how they came to the attention of the security teams at the event. Could you explain how the campaigners were identified, and do you share my concerns that this kind of invasive security looks repressive and secretive?
