  • Transport Policing (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Samantha Heath

Yes, absolutely. As you know, the Assembly are doing an investigation into protecting the environment but there is the perception of crime and the dumping around Tramlink stations and that does not really, as Toby highlighted, make you feel confident of travelling on the tram. We are going actually officially to Croydon today to have another look at it but we have had complaints and the perception of travelling on Tramlink. It is bit like zero tolerance on the capital standards extension to TfL. People do feel uncomfortable travelling on Tramlink and there is only, as far as I know...

  • Visit to LB Bromley (Supplementary) [8]

    • Question by: Samantha Heath
    • Meeting date: 16 July 2003
I am delighted that Bob Neill is trying to get you to go to Bromley because you really kicked up a stink when I go to his constituency and I would really like to come with you. I have got two questions and we are only allowed to have the one so I will just put in it. Are you aware that David Dilner, who is the Borough Commander, was forced to correct untrue Conservative councillors in last week's Bromley News Shopper, which I read avidly of course. He was actually forced to correct these untruths because Bromley has got...

  • Olympics and Car free developments (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: Samantha Heath
    • Meeting date: 18 June 2003
The Environment Committee certainly has looking at the Olympics on its menu in a very constructive way in the not too distant future. I say that in a very constructive way because from my position I think the Olympics is a sterling example of where we can actually put environmental construction in right at the start of this particular project. So, in a sense, I am very heartened to hear the answers you have to Darren's questions. Although I have to say I have a great concern because if your environmental advice comes from that end of the table, what...
  • Olympics and Car free developments (Supplementary) [8]

    • Question by: Samantha Heath
    • Meeting date: 18 June 2003
Obviously from my position jobs are certainly very important and I would not want to say for a second that we would sacrifice the environment for jobs as a way of going forward. But it would be useful at this point if you did read out the six, or if I just pointed out one that you might consider. The very last one on the list I have mentions Richard Rogers by name. Will he still be part of the Urbanism Unit if he is part of the one that is chosen?
  • Olympics and Car free developments (Supplementary) [9]

    • Question by: Samantha Heath
    • Meeting date: 18 June 2003
): I am concerned about that and also about the legacy with regard to the names I have seen and the work they do in relation to sustainability. It has been questionable. I have questioned a number of these individuals or the persons mentioned here. So the point is how do we ensure that we get jobs, and get the delivery of this project properly and sustainably right from the start? I think that is still open to question.
