  • Peckham Rye Overground

    • Reference: 2006/0484-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
Do you think that the forecourt at Peckham Rye Over-ground station could be opened up and a new piazza created - perhaps under the world squares project? Would you be willing to encourage TfL to look at the possibilities of projects for this site that would improve the transport interchange with the Tram station proposed for Peckham. How are these issues being explored and progressed by TfL?
  • Fireworks on Buses

    • Reference: 2006/0475-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
How many reports did you receive of fireworks being set off on buses deliberately in the run up to bonfire night? Do you see this as a major public danger?
  • TfL License Minicabs

    • Reference: 2006/0477-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
I previously asked how can TfL facilitate safe access to licensed minicabs for users of clubs and late night facilities along red routes and 24hour bus lanes - where minicab drivers feel in danger of being ticketed while waiting to collect passengers who have ordered their services? The Mayor told me that TfL is considering whether private hire vehicles should be able to pick up and set down passengers on red routes, reflecting the role in business for such services in the transport strategy and their importance to Londoners. He said that ' Work is progressing to quantify these effects...
  • Kingswood Estate

    • Reference: 2006/0478-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
In September 2003 TfL said that London Buses was investigating the suggestion for a service to link the Kingswood estate to East Dulwich, Denmark Hill and Peckham. This deprived and geographically isolated council estate still lacks transport links and TfL have demonstrated that there is a gap in the bus network. Would TfL consider putting in either a new bus service or as a minimum provide a mobility bus link to link the estate to the hospitals serving this community?
  • A23 Streatham 1

    • Reference: 2006/0479-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
The works on the A23 adjacent to Streatham station (where the railway bridge had to be strengthened) have taken a very long time to complete - it has been on going for about 2 years to my recollection. When will the signals and detailed road layout works be finished? Is this delay being caused by the Signals Unit DTO?
  • A23 Streatham 2

    • Reference: 2006/0480-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
Returning to Streatham A23 from Tooting via Tooting Bec Gardens has become very difficult - drivers frequently push into the queue and become impatient, and the yellow boxes on the A23 don't seem to be enforced. Could there be better enforcement of boxes and lane discipline coming along Tooting Bec Gardens towards Streatham High Road?
  • A23 Streatham 3

    • Reference: 2006/0481-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
Congestion along the Streatham Common end of the A23 is a becoming worse and more frequent - what plans does TfL have for reducing congestion - and easing up the St Leonard's gyratory system - especially in light of the growing developments in the area, for example the Tescos development on the Ice Rink site?
  • East London Line Extension Phase 2

    • Reference: 2006/0482-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
Please give an account of why the previously favoured Dulwich - Streatham - Wimbledon routing for the second phase of the East London Line was supplanted without warning or consultation in 2003 by the currently favoured Denmark Hill - Clapham route despite the likelihood of displacing the popular South London Line Service between London Bridge and Victoria. Can you compare the public demand for each of these possible routings and explain why Streatham and Dulwich, which lack orbital connections, should be superseded by the Clapham and Denmark Hill link where they already exist? Your predecessor told me that the cost...
  • Peckham Bus Garage

    • Reference: 2006/0483-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
I believe that the TfL owned bus garage in Peckham is in need of a project to improve the public environment and to create business opportunities and better public facilities. Do you see the Cross River Tram as bringing an opportunity to create a new and more attractive and user-friendly bus station for Peckham? How will such proposals be raised and considered by TfL in the context of the London Tram scheme?
  • Queens Road and the A202

    • Reference: 2006/0485-1
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
On a recent site visit along Queens Road Peckham with Council officers, local Councillors and TfL, the issue was raised of the problematic layout of the A202 - the width of this road, the presence of fence barriers and inconvenient and sometimes absent pedestrian crossings which cut the community in half. There are also dangers for the pupils of the schools in the area. Would TfL participate in the Queens Road Improvement Project with the Council and seek ways of improving the road layout and public realm along this busy Red route?
