    • Reference: 2000/0467
    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 20 December 2000
Will the Mayor speak to the Chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority concerning the Cock Tavern Public House, Euston Road, scene of a recent pro-real IRA meeting and other potential source of public disorder and seek assurance from the Metropolitan Police that appropriate action will be taken to prevent this establishment being a constant source of nuisance to residents of Camden and London as a whole? .
  • North Circular Road

    • Reference: 2000/0456
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 20 December 2000
Is the Mayor aware that a proposal to widen the North Circular Road between Bounds Green and Green Lanes would, according to official figures cost £252m (enough to pay for up to 2,200 brand new double decker buses) require the demolition of 280 homes in North London and lead to worse air quality due to more traffic on the A406? Will he, therefore, provide an unambiguous statement that he will not support this new road scheme, but instead give priority to implementing traffic management, road safety, and public transport improvements along this stretch of road? .

    • Reference: 2000/0352
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2000
Trains carrying hazardous nuclear waste through London are considerably heavier than those carrying commuters. Bearing in mind the three recent train crashes and the impact of the extreme weather conditions on the rail network, will the Mayor write to Sir Alastair Morton, Chairman of the Shadow Strategic Rail Authority to clarify what steps are being taken to protect Londoners from the possibility of a rail accident involving a nuclear shipment?
  • Access for People with Disabilities - Transport

    • Reference: 2000/0338
    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2000
Is the Mayor aware that access for people with physical disabilities to Britain's busiest railway station, Clapham Junction, is by an "evacuation" chair, which must be carried up and down stairs by railway staff, which is inefficient, dangerous and humiliating for the disabled person. This is by no means an isolated example. What measures will the Mayor take to increase access for people with disabilities to public transport? Will the Mayor ask Transport for London to look at possible improvements at Clapham Junction?
  • Crystal Palace

    • Reference: 2000/0268
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 18 October 2000
Do you share the view outlined in the "Architect's Journal" of 7 September that the changes in design of the proposed Crystal Palace development, following the replacement of the original architect, Ian Ritchie, represents a "dumbing down" of this already controversial proposal? Do you believe Bromley councillors' approval of these changes on 3 October, despite not knowing what the building's finish will look like or what the impact will be, will only serve to strengthen the degree of opposition to the development amongst local people and confirm the view that Bromley Council has utterly failed to listen to those most...

    • Reference: 2000/0208

Will he write to the Secretary of State requesting that legislation governing Permitted Development Rights be amended in order to ensure that the democratic planning process is not circumvented for developments of this type? .
  • Congestion Charging

    • Reference: 2000/0241
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 13 September 2000
Are you concerned that the excellent opportunities that the congestion charge provides for reducing road traffic and improving air quality in London may be undermined by the building of new Thames road crossings as proposed by the Thames Gateway London Partnership and London First? Prof. Phil Goodwin of the Standing Advisory Committee on Trunk Road Assessment (SACTRA) expressed the view that he "would be amazed if new road crossings of the Thames in east London did not generate extra traffic." Do you support the building of these new road crossings?
