    • Reference: 2000/0343
    • Question by: Lynne Featherstone
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2000
Given the sorry state of the tube, with signal failures, escalator breakdown's, overcrowding, station closures and so on, does the Mayor believe that a target of halving equipment failures over 8 years is good enough?
  • New Year's Eve

    • Reference: 2000/0344

  • PPP

    • Reference: 2000/0345
    • Question by: Lynne Featherstone
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2000
Given that the Hutton report, Bob Kiley and London tube users all appear to feel that safety will be compromised if the Government's proposed PPP for the tube goes ahead, can the Mayor think of any olive branch which might help the government climb down but save face, given that there appears to be no reason for their stance other than dogma and saving face?
  • Trafalgar Square Statues

    • Reference: 2000/0346
    • Question by: Sally Hamwee
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2000
Has the Mayor reviewed his position with regard to the statues of General Sir Charles Napier and Major General Sir Henry Havelock in Trafalgar Square? Does he agree that placing a plaque beside the statues, explaining the achievements of these two Generals to 21st century citizens, would be a more appropriate course of action rather than pulling them down, especially as one of these statues was mainly funded by subscriptions from soldiers?
  • Flooding

    • Reference: 2000/0347
    • Question by: Sally Hamwee
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2000
Will the Mayor make a statement on the problems encountered by public transport services in London during recent flooding, with particular reference to the disruption to bus services?
  • Fuel Protests

    • Reference: 2000/0348
    • Question by: Sally Hamwee
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2000
Further to my question at Mayor's Question Time last month, has the Mayor had any further discussions with regard to the operation of dial-a-ride and taxi-card services during any further disruptions arising from fuel protests and if so what has been the outcome?
  • Aircraft Noise

    • Reference: 2000/0350
    • Question by: Sally Hamwee
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2000
What does the Mayor propose to do to protect the citizens of London from the ever increasing noise of aircraft passing over the capital at night and does this have a place in his transport strategy?
  • Road Safety

    • Reference: 2000/0353
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2000
How does the Mayor rationalise the massive attention given to rail safety compared to the almost relaxed attitude to safety on our roads, where vastly greater death, suffering and injury is caused in comparison?
  • Statues

    • Reference: 2000/0354
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2000
Given that the Mayor's statue comments at the last Assembly were at best diversionary and at worst dumb, is not his tendency to make off-the-cuff comments an endearing characteristic in opposition but a liability in power?
  • Transport Schemes

    • Reference: 2000/0356
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2000
While strongly supporting the East London Transit proposal I recognise that it will compete with other worthy schemes for resources. By what transparent process will the Mayor evaluate competing transport schemes in his strategy?
