    The work that I am doing, together with the Office of Children's rights, to prepare the GLA's Children's strategy has made clear the importance of recognising the needs and views of children and young people. The Greater London Authority Act states that "in exercising their functions" the GLA must "have regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity for all persons irrespective of their.....age." However, the GLA's consultation processes do not routinely take children's views into account across all the Mayor's strategies. A GLA children's stakeholder group would solve this problem and provide this important fifth of London's population...

    Many employees are simply not aware of the Governments Access to Work scheme and as a result many deaf people are missing out on the vital help and assistance that the scheme can provide, such as the provision of interpreters/communication support for deaf people.
