    Following the concerns I raised about the dealing and transportation of hard drugs on certain London Routemaster buses at Mayor's Question Time on 4th April 2001, and growing concern generally about violence and disorder on London buses, would the Mayor explain why some of the £64 million being reserved for preparation for the congestion charge cannot be spent more wisely in the interests of the personal safety of staff and passengers on installing onboard CCTV cameras on buses, as the programme for doing so at the moment is patchy and insufficient? . .

    Acknowledging the Mayor's wish to maintain and reintroduce Routemaster buses, is the Mayor nevertheless aware that on certain routes the open access to the Routemaster is conducive to the transportation and dealing of hard drugs, and will the Mayor urge Transport for London to take a flexible approach on this issue and to work in partnership with the Metropolitan Police Service to provide the most suitable bus designs (Titans, Metros, etc) for each route. .
