  • Bendy buses and cyclists

    • Reference: 2004/1500
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
Do TfL have separate figures for the number of casualties per kilometre travelled involving bendy buses and cyclists. Do TfL compare these figures with conventional length buses? If not, do you consider that an assessment and comparison might be worth while to see if there is a problem?
  • Pedicab regulation

    • Reference: 2004/1501
    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
Would you be willing to organise a meeting between your office, the PCO, TfL and representatives from the Pedicab operators to discuss the clauses concerning pedicabs and traffic regulations within the London Local Authorities and Transport for London Parlimentary Bill which is being promoted by TfL? Are you happy that this bill strikes the right balance between the Pedicab operators desire to be regulated and a desire to allow this fun and green form of transport to continue? Are you concerned that defining these Pedicabs as motorised vehicles is a rather unimaginative and inappropriate basis for a regulatory system? Are...
  • No. 6 Bus

    • Reference: 2004/1698
    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
I'm told that the No 6 bus is due to be rerouted in 2005 down Donnington Road, NW10. People living near the current route in the Queens Park, Kensal rise and Willesden High Road areas have expressed unhappiness about losing the bus from the high road which means they will have to change buses at All Souls Avenue. Also, people living in Donnington Road have raised concerns that the bus route is unsuitable, as there is narrow right turn at Willesden Community Hospital. I understand that the headmaster of Donnington Primary school has also raised concerns about buses and road...

    • Reference: 2004/1699
    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
Can anything be done to make the A23 Lombard Roundabout safe and easy for all road users? Would TfL consider installing traffic lights? This has already been done on the A23's Purley Cross and Thornton Heath Pond junctions.
  • London Safety Camera Partnership

    • Reference: 2004/1724
    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
Can you provide figures for the total number of casualties, covering the period of the last two years, at those identified sites within the LSCP expansion plan which don't yet have a fixed site camera? What action is being taken at these sites in the meantime? Given the LSCP's current expansion timetable, how many estimated KSI's do the partnership anticipate at those sites not covered by fixed cameras in the next three years?
  • London Safety Camera Partnership

    • Reference: 2004/1725
    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
What is the average cost of processing a LSCP penalty notice and can you provide a league table of how this compares to other regional safety camera partnerships? Is the relatively high cost of processing these penalty notices in London a factor in delaying the roll out of cameras to identified sites?
  • London Safety Camera Partnership

    • Reference: 2004/1726
    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
Could the money raised from the LSCP be used to pay for the increased use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition Machines, to catch unregistered drivers? Are there any plans to expand the use of these machines in London?
  • London Safety Camera Partnership

    • Reference: 2004/1727
    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
Can you provide a 100% guarantee that all cameras used at sites identified by the LSCP, are now set to prosecute according to ACPO guidelines, i.e. 35mph in a 30mph zone?
  • Cycle Training in schools

    • Reference: 2004/1443
    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 20 October 2004
Will you guarantee that the funding stream for TfL led cycle training in schools will continue beyond 2005/06, with the Cycling Centre for Excellence having the ability to meet local demand from parents arising from the school travel plans? Would you consider going further than this and ask TfL to adopt a clear goal of ensuring that there is cycle training for all year 5 and 6 pupils, plus top up training for secondary schools?
  • Thames Gateway Bridge and safeguarding Oxleas Wood

    • Reference: 2004/1264
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 20 October 2004
In a response to a question from myself regarding the Thames Gateway Bridge (19.06.02), you stated that you had instructed Transport for London to identify any properties it owned on the route from the proposed bridge to Oxleas Wood and to accelerate their immediate sale and disposal so they are not in the public sector. Can you reassure me that any such properties owned by the bodies which make up the Greater London Authority, or any other government agency, have now been disposed of.
