  • Funding for South London

    • Reference: 2004/0738
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 24 June 2004
You made a point in your acceptance speech of saying how proud you were in leading an administration involved in the redistribution of wealth. One of the key examples of this in your first four years in office has been a redistribution of wealth away from South London, with such a minimal amount of LDA spending taking place in that region. Following your encouraging remarks at the last Assembly meeting before the election, can I be reassured that redistribution of wealth away from South London by your administration will be greatly reduced in your second term?

    • Meeting date: 24 June 2004
The Kimpton Road project in Sutton designed to extend existing industrial and retail facilities and construct new roads and a recycling centre has been delayed since August 2003 by TfL Street Management. The Council and Tesco Stores Ltd, who are jointly developing this scheme, have agreed their plans and submitted planning applications on 11th August. These were referred to TfL on 13th August but it took until 14th January for TfL to ask for a new set of survey data, something that TfL could quite reasonably have requested in September 2003. In the meantime, the Development Control Committee has had...

The naming of the Coulsdon bypass is a matter of debate within the local community. A proposal put forward by the Coulsdon Forum is that there should be a full consultation process via local newspapers, libraries, notice boards etc. in order to determine which potential name from a shortlist would hold most local support. Would you support such a consultation proposal?
