  • Dial a Ride

    • Reference: 2006/2880
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 13 December 2006
Some of my constituents who use the Dial-a-Ride service are not satisfied with the service and some believe that your reply to my question 1852 is inaccurate and gives a misleadingly positive impression of the service. Can you please respond to the following supplementary questions: Can you please give a geographical breakdown by Borough of the 228 bookings you refer to for trips after 11pm and the 76 before 8am. How do the contracts held by drivers differ from Borough to Borough across London - in particular can you say what the start and finishing times are for contracted drivers...
  • Brixton High Street

    • Reference: 2006/2903
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 13 December 2006
What has happened to the plans to improve the layout of the street, and bus stops in Brixton High Street - under the planned phase 2 of the A23 Project by TfL Street management? Why has this been delayed? Will this scheme when implemented, do anything to reduce the frequent incidences of drug dealing in the bus stops in the centre of Brixton? Bus passengers stand shivering in the rain while drug dealers take up trading positions in the bus shelters. What priority is TfL and the MPS giving to this problem?

  • Cross Boundary Routes

    • Reference: 2006/2914
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 13 December 2006
The Croydon Society Transport Group has raised the issue of the demand for transport not necessarily coinciding with administrative boundaries. There is currently a failure by TfL to provide a public transport link between Farleigh and Croydon at a price and frequency capable of diverting people from car travel. There is resentment at a perceived inconsistency with other TfL contracted cross boundary routes. For example one can reach Warlingham (Sainsbury's), Tatsfield, Caterham Station, Caterham on the Hill, Redhill and Banstead all at a much higher frequency and at a much lower cost, notwithstanding that they are further from Croydon than...

  • Self-drive hire firms

    • Reference: 2006/2916
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 13 December 2006
Unlike congestion charge fines which fall upon the driver of a hired car, transgressions of bus lanes fall upon the registered keeper under the London Local Authorities Act 1996 (as amended). Do you feel that this is an unfair burden on small self-drive hire firms and would you lobby for a change in the legislation on this matter?
