  • Hillmarton Triangle

    • Reference: 2009/2612
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 09 September 2009
TfL is refusing to allow Islington Council to go ahead with a pedestrian crossing on Hillmarton Road as part of the Hillmarton Triangle Scheme arguing that the extra time required to allow pedestrians to cross safely will cause unacceptable delays to northbound traffic on Caledonian Road. When taking this decision was it taken into account that many pedestrians cross the road at this point and that three accidents have occurred there in the past three years?
  • Pedestrian crossing Holloway Road

    • Reference: 2009/2613
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 09 September 2009
Thank you for responding to the above campaign (question 1664/2009) by increasing the crossing time at the Holloway Road/ Tollington Way Junction by two seconds Further work is needed as a number found that the 2-second increase is still insufficient. How was the decision to give a 2 second increase in time arrived at? In what way were the needs of London's disabled pedestrians taken into account when this decision was made?
  • Transport Museum

    • Reference: 2009/2614
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 09 September 2009
London's Transport Museum used to be free to all Freedom Pass holders since it reopened in November 2007. Since the 1st of March 2009 it has been charging £8 entry for senior citizens. The Transport Museum is a subsidiary company of TFL and a registered charity. What is the reason for this price hike? Will you see that the situation is rectified and that London's elders are allowed free entry to the museum once again?
  • Protection of Pedestrians from dangerous cyclists.

    • Reference: 2009/2615
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 09 September 2009
Do you share the concerns of many of my constituents who increasingly report 'An increasing number of cyclists seem to believe that it is their right to cycle through red lights, constantly jeopardising pedestrians. Cyclists also go through red lights and/or cycle on the pavement, both on main roads and side streets. They weave in and out of pedestrians at will, often coming up behind you with just inches to spare I myself have had many near misses. Recently I was nearly run down by a cyclist going through a red light on Upper Street, Islington. When I shouted at...
  • Cycle Highway

    • Reference: 2009/2624
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 09 September 2009
One of the largest London Cyclist groups has indicated that they are currently unable to support your proposed 'cycle highway' between Tottenham and the City. They argue that it is unacceptable and impracticable for a priority cycling route to be diverted via a gyratory road system. One of the two cycle-hostile parts of the main A10 is of course, this gyratory system at Stoke Newington. Please update me on how you in your role as Chair of TfL you will respond to the concerns of many of my constituents. Please also advise me whether you intend to review your decision...
  • Hall Farm Curve

    • Reference: 2009/1895
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 15 July 2009
At the 2012 Games and beyond public meeting, questions were asked about reinstating the Hall Farm Curve and connecting Waltham Forest to Stratford. You responded by saying you would look into the feasibility of this option and would call on TfL to produce a detailed paper on this. Have you discussed this with TfL yet?
  • Hall Farm Curve (2)

    • Reference: 2009/1896
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 15 July 2009
What will this new study add to the 2002 study into the same issue commissioned by Waltham Forest Council and funded by a £50,000 grant from TfL?
  • Hall Farm Curve (3)

    • Reference: 2009/1897
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 15 July 2009
Considering the fact that the 2002 study found that reinstating the Curve would be relatively straightforward in engineering terms and that there are no major technical problems, would the only barrier for reinstatement be a lack of funding?
  • Velib Scheme

    • Reference: 2009/1898
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 15 July 2009
In answer to my question 1309/2009, you said: 'In locations where there are high pedestrian flows, TfL will carry out a level of service assessment.' How will TfL determine where locations have high pedestrian flows?
  • Velib Scheme (2)

    • Reference: 2009/1899
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 15 July 2009
Can you provide me with answer to the following questions raised by my constituent: 1) Please provide the sites where the service assessments have been undertaken to date? 2) What is the detailed methodology and threshold standard for interpreting these data and for drawing conclusions from them? 3) Will Velib site assessments be made available to the public via the website? 4) Locating Velib docking stations and cycle parking stands on the footway (or in locations where cyclists must cross over the footway) may mislead users to think that cycling on pavements is acceptable. Besides training, what physical steps will...
