  • MPA/MPS Policing Plan 2011-14

    • Reference: 2011/2911
    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 12 October 2011
Page 27 of your Policing Plan outlines the proposed number of Police Officers to March 2014 is 31,460. The HMIC repeated this figure in their recent report 'Valuing the Police: Preparedness Inspection'. However, when the HMIC repeated figure has been quoted to you and your Deputy Mayor for Policing, you have both denied it, and your Deputy even called it 'cobblers'. Is the figure in the MPA/MPS Policing Plan 2011-14 incorrect? If so, please can you provide the correct figure for the proposed number of Police Officers for 2013/14?
  • Defining the 'Front Line'

    • Reference: 2011/2912
    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 12 October 2011
The HMIC's model of defining the 'front line' as 'the police front line comprises those who are in everyday contact with the public and who directly intervene to keep people safe and enforce the law' and they state that it has the benefit of being formulated with the involvement of ACPO, APA, APACE as well as the MPS. The MPS use the Operational Policing Model (OPM). Which system do you believe is the most appropriate? Do you believe the Met should adopt the similar HMIC model for a more consistent and widely endorsed approach to enable unambiguous and clear discussions...

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 12 October 2011
Officers for the Safer Transport Teams are provided by Borough Command Units. • Report a roadworks problem

    • Reference: 2011/2917
    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 12 October 2011
Further to the TfL tool for reporting problematic roadworks that you launched on 21 September, I understand you wrote to boroughs the day before, on 20th September. In the spirit of collaborative working I would hope that you gave boroughs a little more notice than just a day. Please can you clarify the following? What consultation did you have with each of the London boroughs beforehand? What input did you have from the 33 boroughs towards designing TfL's on-line tool which will despatch problem reports directly to them? How much notice did you give the boroughs that the tool was...
  • Responsible Dog Ownership

    • Reference: 2011/2918
    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 12 October 2011
With the current popularity of bull breeds fuelling increasing numbers of stray dogs, more of these dogs are now having to be destroyed by Local Authorities for financial reasons in London because there are too many of them for the homes needed. Will the GLA support or coordinate efforts to promote neutering across London and community engagement work which key London organisations such as Battersea Dogs & Cats Home are undertaking?

Please can you instruct your officers at TfL to begin looking at improving public transport links now, particularly from Winchmore Hill and Chase areas of Enfield, so that these transport services are ready for when the hospital changes occur next year?
