I would like some assurance from you that under the current Coronavirus restrictions officers of the Metropolitan Police will not be entering licensed premises to argue with landlords and customers about whether a Scotch Egg constitutes a ‘substantial’ meal and ordering customers to leave pub premises as soon as they had finished their meals, thus preventing them from ordering more drinks 1 . In my opinion, for a variety of reasons, which I have previously raised, the Metropolitan Police has not done its reputation any favours over the last year and I believe that a heavy-handed approach to this issue...

I was surprised to learn from the press that Mr Jack Stenner, the GLA’s director of political and public affairs, on a salary of £120,000 a year, has quit London for an apartment in San Francisco, some eight hours behind London, whilst retaining his post. I would be interested to learn if you believe someone residing in Northern California can do an effective job as member of your senior management team from 5,000 miles away 1 . 1 https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/13364319/sadiq-khan-aide-working-from-hom…

  • Metropolitan Police (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: David Kurten

David Kurten AM: Yes. Thank you, Chair. Good morning, Mr Mayor. I want to ask you about something you mentioned in your answer there to Assembly Member Whittle, who asked about the incident at Speakers’ Corner on Sunday. It seems that Speakers’ Corner is closed at the moment. I was there on Sunday to observe what was going on and I was quite shocked to see a person who is a YouTuber giving a speech. He was surrounded by police, pulled off his chair and bundled into the back of a police van. I was also shoved by a police...
