Andrew Boff AM (Chair): C ould you start the clock on this? Mr Mayor, you referred to the important objective of ensuring that as many stations as possible have step-free access. There is, however, once people using wheelchairs know where the lifts are, shall we say where step-free access is, then they can plan their journey. It does not help with planning their journey when so many lifts in outer London seem to go out of order on a repetitive basis. The Assembly found that waking watches are costing Londoners £16,000 an hour. Can explain why is it so expensive to run these ‘watches’ in London? I have been contacted by constituents regarding removal of vegetation trackside in Pinner. According to residents, they received no advance warning of this work, which has had an impact on animal habitats. Can you provide full details as to why this work, in this specific area was carried out and whether residents were given notice of this work. Are there plans to mitigate the damage that this work has caused to the environment, but also the potential for greater noise disturbance from Met Line trains?

A response I received from TfL in regards to tube noise issues states that due to the financial impact of the pandemic “some non-safety-critical activities” have been delayed and that they could not confirm next steps when it comes to tube noise issues until the 2021/2022 budget has been confirmed.
