    • Meeting date: 25 February 2021
Harrow Mencap are running a ‘Nurses not Hearses’ campaign, calling for more Learning Disability nurses in hospitals. According to a Public Health England report, 6.3 times more deaths occurred among people with learning disabilities than in the rest of the population. Will you support and publicise this brilliant and important campaign?
  • Mental Health Crisis -Children and Young People

    • Reference: 2021/0960
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 25 February 2021
Everyone acknowledges the need to urgently address the rapid and devastating mental health crisis affecting children and young people and the support they require as a result of the pandemic crisis. As it is, even before the pandemic the support was too little. As the figures are devastating and impacting on a whole new generation, urgent action is required. What can and must the Government do? And, what you are doing within your power to help the children and young people affected by the mental health crisis?
  • StreetLink

    • Reference: 2021/0961
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 25 February 2021
In recent years the StreetLink app has been very useful so that members of the public could identify rough sleepers and make StreetLink aware of them. Now there is much less footfall on London’s streets as people stay home, what is being done to ensure as many rough sleepers as possible are being located and helped, especially as the cold weather continues to take its toll?
  • Delivery of New London Plan & Recovery

    • Reference: 2021/0962
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 25 February 2021
I’m pleased that after a long and unacceptable delay the London Plan can now shape and make a positive contribution to London. As London paves its way to recovery, will the London Plan need modifications in the light of the pandemic which has brought about radical changes in the way we live and work etc. Is the London Plan robust and flexible enough to absorb major changes required to pave a way to recovery or will it need to change? If latter is the case how do you think it can and will be done?
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Delivery in London (Supplementary) [12]

    • Question by: Navin Shah and David Kurten
    • Meeting date: 04 February 2021
Navin Shah AM (Chair): Thank you very much. Minister Zahawi, I know this morning already you had a very busy schedule. I have heard you on Leading Britain's Conversation (LBC), we have seen you on Sky [Network] Television (TV) and you are here this morning with us. I cannot thank you enough. May I just on behalf of the Assembly if you can spare another minute, ask you a question of reassurance that we are seeking on behalf of Londoners? That is: is London now receiving its fair share of COVID‑19 vaccinations and can we be confident that it will...
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Delivery in London (Supplementary) [15]

    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 04 February 2021
Navin Shah AM (Chair): Right. My question is on vaccination hesitancy in BAME communities and to start with, I would like to address my question to Dr Coffey. According to the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), only 57% of BAME people would be willing to take a COVID‑19 vaccine in comparison with 79% of white people. In particular, confidence is reportedly lowest amongst black communities, with some reports of 72% not willing to take the vaccine. The spread of the misinformation and conspiracy theories via social media networks can be identified as one of the causes of this. What...
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Delivery in London (Supplementary) [16]

    • Question by: Alison Moore
    • Meeting date: 04 February 2021
Dr Alison Moore AM: My first question is for Tom Coffey. Phase 1 of the current COVID-19 vaccination programme covers care home residents, for example, and those over 50. Phase 2 covers the rest of the population and the JCVI has said, and I quote, “Vaccination of those at risk of exposure to SARS-CoV-2 due to their occupation could also be a priority in the next phase”. My first question is: what discussions, if any, has the Mayor had with the Government over whether to prioritise key workers’ COVID-19 vaccination programme and, if so, when should they receive their vaccination?
