    Can I just intervene here, just to be accurate about this. You have been talking about the GLA and the Mayor undertaking an inquiry; I am not disputing what Richard Barnes is saying; indeed there is reference to an inquiry by the LDA. They are parallel perhaps, but separate.

    In a recent Written Answer the Minister of State for Employment Relations and Postal Affairs stated 'The area plans published by Post Office Ltd. to date indicate that over 95 per cent of the population in each area will see no change to the post office branch they currently use or will be within one mile of an alternative branch'. When this disingenuous figure is applied to London, it could mean close to 400,000 Londoners suffering deterioration in their access to Post Office services. Will the Mayor join me in promising to resist such a large-scale attack on Post Office...
