  • Question and Answer Session: Legacy of the 2012 London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 06 October 2022
Siân Berry AM: Thank you very much, Chair. My first question is also to the Deputy Mayor. In terms of going for the Games in the first place, if [Sir] Peter Hendy had not quoted Ken Livingstone , I would have done because it really is crucial that we did not go for it on the point of sport; we did it because development of the East End was the main point. That quote from Ken Livingstone ends with, “Build the housing”. Therefore I want to ask about housing and particularly overcrowding. Within the convergence framework that resulted, there were...
  • Question and Answer Session: Legacy of the 2012 London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Lord Bailey of Paddington
    • Meeting date: 06 October 2022
Shaun Bailey AM: Thank you, Chair. Good afternoon, panel. The Mayor has made no secret of his desire for another Olympic Games and he used the phrasing, it will be “the greenest Games ever” because we already have the kit. Do we already have the kit though? As we know, the Stadium is locked in a contract, a 99-year deal or something along those lines. So do we actually have the kit? Let me start with the Deputy Mayor and then I will come to Lyn.
  • Question and Answer Session: Legacy of the 2012 London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Neil Garratt
    • Meeting date: 06 October 2022
Neil Garratt AM: He was on LBC [radio] this morning, we know what some of his engagements were. I wanted to ask about this question of convergence. A young lad who was the Mayor of Hackney at the time signed up to the Strategic Regeneration Framework, which you mentioned earlier, which talked about the true legacy of 2012 being that within 20 years the communities who host the 2012 Games will have the same social and economic chances as their neighbours across London. We spoke a bit about that earlier. I will give you an opportunity as well in a...
  • Question and Answer Session: Legacy of the 2012 London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Supplementary) [6]

    • Question by: Tony Devenish
    • Meeting date: 06 October 2022
Tony Devenish AM: Thank you, Chair. My question is to the Deputy Mayor and the Chief Executive. Good afternoon. I believe that the LLDC will be wound up in just a few years’ time. You can probably perhaps remind me of the date to make sure I get the right date. What is the issue in terms of a risk register for the governance for that? Are you specifically concerned at all about the competence of any of the boroughs to take over those powers, particularly one borough with the initials T-H?
  • Question and Answer Session: Legacy of the 2012 London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: Keith Prince
    • Meeting date: 06 October 2022
Keith Prince AM: Thank you, Chair. This is a question to Lyn. Good afternoon, Lyn. I have a couple of questions. Lyn, how many members of the Board do you have?
  • Question and Answer Session: Legacy of the 2012 London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Supplementary) [8]

    • Question by: Leonie Cooper
    • Meeting date: 06 October 2022
Léonie Cooper AM: Thank you very much, Chair. Sorry, I thought we were going to hear from the rest of the Conservatives before we moved over to anybody else. I would like to speak to Lyn Garner and I would also like to say to Assembly Member Garratt, who is not privy to these discussions, that the Mayor was not invited today. That is why he is not here. It has nothing to do with his diary being full or otherwise. It is sad that you do not know about these things from your Group leader, perhaps. Lyn, do you...
  • Question and Answer Session: Legacy of the 2012 London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Supplementary) [9]

    • Question by: Elly Baker
    • Meeting date: 06 October 2022
Elly Baker AM: Thank you, Chair. My questions are about the transport legacy of the Games and they will be directed to Sir Peter Hendy. Sir Peter, in March 2012, the previous Mayor published his Olympic and Paralympic transport legacy action plan. Do you feel it has been delivered?
  • Question and Answer Session: Legacy of the 2012 London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Supplementary) [10]

    • Question by: Unmesh Desai
    • Meeting date: 06 October 2022
Unmesh Desai AM: Thank you, Chair. Good afternoon, panel. My question is about the demands of policing mega events and it is to you, Lyn. The policing operation for the Olympics was huge and a success. However, one of the problems with policing mega events, as a Government report made clear in 2020, is the coordination between multiple agencies. With the current and anticipated increasing footfall in the Stratford area with the ABBA [Voyage] Arena and the proposed MSG Sphere, how are you working with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), the British Transport Police (BTP) and other agencies to meet...
  • Question and Answer Session: Legacy of the 2012 London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Supplementary) [11]

    • Question by: Anne Clarke
    • Meeting date: 06 October 2022
Anne Clarke AM: Thank you, Chair. Good afternoon, everyone. Jules, you have talked a lot about housing delivery, and I want to come back to that. Since this project has started, the world has changed significantly and for many reasons. I am just wondering what impact factors such as COVID and Brexit have had, and also this emerging economic storm, on the ability to deliver housing.
