A constituent has raised concerns with me about the lack of resilience for stations south of New Cross Gate on the Transport for London (TfL) London Overground line, highlighted by the suspension of services to West Croydon on Wednesday 28 February. In 2022 Southern Railway withdrew the services that stopped at most of these stations and, when signalling problems occur, it has sometimes been the case that through services are kept running while stopping services were cancelled. Thank you for your answer to my question 2024/0391, in which you said: “the toilets reopened to members of the public on 15 January 2024. TfL has further enhanced its maintenance regime to help prevent a future closure.” Could you tell me the reason for the re-closure of the toilets at Vauxhall station, despite the drainage repairs and improved maintenance regime, and how soon they will re-open?

In December 2023, Transport for London (TfL) announced that £43.1 million from the Government’s Levelling Up Funding had been allocated to upgrade both Colindale and Leyton stations. Do these plans include repairing or upgrading the existing toilets at Leyton station, or the construction of new toilets at Colindale station?

While the station is closed for this additional time, will TfL conduct a more thorough exploration of the feasibility of adding step-free access, plus other necessary improvements to this station?

Constituents have raised with me their dismay at the announcement by Transport for London (TfL), that the reopening of Kentish Town station after escalator refurbishment works, has been delayed. This station has been closed for more than a year, yet the communication to residents about the further delay focussed on explaining the alternative journeys they have already been forced to use. Will you: a) apologise to Londoners for the impact of this extended closure, and b) ask TfL to review its messaging on long-term station closures to ensure that it doesn’t assume Londoners don’t already know the options?
