  • Tube Noise

    • Reference: 2021/1183
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 18 March 2021
A response I received from TfL in regards to tube noise issues states that due to the financial impact of the pandemic “some non-safety-critical activities” have been delayed and that they could not confirm next steps when it comes to tube noise issues until the 2021/2022 budget has been confirmed. Will you commit to making tackling tube noise, that has a serious impact on the quality of life of many residents, a priority for the future?
  • Tube Noise Communication (1)

    • Reference: 2021/0956
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 25 February 2021
A number of AMs have raised issues related to tube noise in their respective constituencies and have found it virtually impossible to get these resolved. A high-level TfL meeting took place with AMs some months ago to express and identify issues across London. We were given assurances of progress and a written briefing of how the casework will be managed/progressed. Since the meeting there’s been a distinct lack of follow up. I understand that the pandemic has complicated the matters. Please advise what progress has been made with casework and what plans you have to deal with the outstanding issues.
  • Bus and Tube Fares

    • Reference: 2021/0377
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 21 January 2021
Bus and tube fares have been the lowest in London over the last 20 years. However, due to Government conditions the fares will be going up from March 2021. What impact there will be from the fares increase? Will this deter people from using public transport and have a detrimental impact on London’s environment?
  • Cashless Payments on Stations

    • Reference: 2021/0378
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 21 January 2021
I note that London TravelWatch has written to the TfL Commissioner and approached Assembly Members expressing concern about plans to stop taking cash across all London Underground, DLR and London Overground station ticket offices and machines in the new year. My constituents too have raised similar concerns as reported in the survey conducted by TravelWatch. Any chance of a rethink on this matter?
  • Mini-Holland Schemes – ‘Traffic Evaporation’

    • Reference: 2021/0379
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 21 January 2021
Research undertaken involving three mini-Holland schemes (Enfield, Kingston and Waltham Forest) to see whether mini-Holland and LTN schemes had affected vehicle ownership showed that these schemes, particularly those with an LTN, lead to traffic evaporation. What resources are provided to Outer London Boroughs for mini-Holland schemes and how are these co-ordinated with LTNs?
  • 60+ Oyster Card – Removal of travel ban during morning peak

    • Reference: 2020/4544
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 17 December 2020
Thank you for your response to my question about, in my view, the discriminatory ban on use of 60+ Freedom Pass during morning peak hours. After months of this imposition by DfT there is no sign of the removal of this restriction. What steps are you taking to demand that the Government removes this condition forthwith? If the ban is not lifted when you are negotiating the next TfL funding can you give me assurance that you would lobby the DfT to lift this condition?
  • NHS Staff – Carparking Charges

    • Reference: 2020/4548
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 17 December 2020
Do you support proposals for 200 per cent hike in hospital parking fees recently reported in the Mail on Sunday? It is not clear when the plan will be implemented but is there any way NHS staff in London can be protected from the hike?
  • Low Traffic Neighbourhoods

    • Reference: 2020/4553
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 17 December 2020
Are LTN schemes blunt tools, failing to achieve the desired benefits of the Streetspace programme to promote healthy streets? In some case they are having negative impact. So, don’t you think the current implementation procedures need replacing by more effective and collaborative work between TfL, Department of Transport and Councils ensuring that due consultations and equality impact assessments are undertaken before implementation and there are clear strategies to monitor the outcomes and reviews?
  • Future Scope of London’s Transport Network

    • Reference: 2020/4026
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 19 November 2020
London Travel-Watch are investigating the future shape of London’s transport network. Is there similar assessment being conducted by TfL to assess where when and how will people be travelling in the post-pandemic period?
  • Contributions to freedom passes

    • Reference: 2020/4030
    • Question by: Navin Shah
    • Meeting date: 19 November 2020
Concessionary travel for 60+ has hit the headlines for the wrong reasons. I want the ‘freedom to travel’ for older people. However, my constituent has written to me, stating that he, and others, would be more than happy to contribute towards the cost of their freedom passes. This would be entirely voluntary and not compulsory for anyone. Is this an idea that could be considered as an element of funding?
