  • T31 bus drivers behaviour at stand outside Markfield, Croydon

    • Reference: 2004/1740
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 15 December 2004
How do you intend to enforce TfL's instructions to the operator of the T31 bus service (First Orpington) to comply with the requirement for First Orpington drivers to switch off their vehicle engines when parked for more than a few minutes at the bus stand outside 95 Markfield, Court Wood Lane, Croydon?
  • Disposal of Sutton's trade waste to London Borough of Merton

    • Reference: 2004/1741
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 15 December 2004
Further to your answer to my question 1057/2004 in September, I am given to understand that the London Borough of Sutton intend to dispose of their trade waste at the Benedicts Wharf site in Mitcham, part of the London Borough of Merton. I understand this is due to the fact that Croydon are only allowing local businesses to access their trade waste sites and that the Garth Road site in Merton will not be able to handle an extra 10,000 tons of trade waste per year coming from the London Borough of Sutton. Using the rough yardstick of half a...
  • Advertising space for the London 2012 Olympics bid (1)

    • Reference: 2004/1505
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
Further to your answer to question 1271 in October, if the advertising space being used to promote the Olympic bid is 'filler' space that is indeed worth £8.4million, would it not be better to sell this space commercially for the benefit of London in order to put more money into TfL's coffers?
  • Advertising space for the London 2012 Olympics bid (2)

    • Reference: 2004/1506
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
If, as you state, the £8.4 million is the estimated value of the advertising space used taken up on buses and tubes by the Olympic 2012 bid if they paid the usual commercial rate, please can you advise why it is the bid does not pay the full commercial rate and whether TfL would be able to sell this space to another advertiser for the full commercial rate?
  • Advertising space for the London 2012 Olympics bid (3)

    • Reference: 2004/1507
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
Bearing in mind your statement that £8.4 million is the value of the filler space used by the 2012 Olympic bid, please can you advise me as to whether any other potential advertisers have been turned away in favour of the Olympic bid and what the value of that organisation's advertising would have been? If an organisation has been turned away from advertising in favour of the Olympic bid, has that orgainisation subsequently advertised with TfL or have they been lost as an advertiser? Please give details or those lost (if any).
  • Future of Purley Cross renewal

    • Reference: 2004/1508
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
Do you know how devastating it will be to the renewal of Purley to have dropped plans from the TfL budget for Purley?
  • A232 Shirley Road bus priority scheme journey time savings

    • Reference: 2004/1509
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
TfL have stated that the current cost of the A232 Shirley Road bus priority scheme stands at approximately £307,000. How can this cost for the eastbound section of the scheme be justified when TfL have also stated that primary journey time savings on the westbound bus lane during the morning peak period will be around 1.9 minutes per bus service yet the primary journey time savings on the eastbound bus lane during the evening peak period will be a mere 15 seconds per bus service, a figure which in any case looks a doubtful estimate bearing in mind the free...
  • TfL procedures for repair of defective traffic signals

    • Reference: 2004/1510
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
Are you satisfied that Transport for London have sufficient procedures in place for the inspection, reporting and repairing of defective traffic signals for which TfL takes responsibility in Croydon? What are these procedures and how frequently are inspections and subsequent repairs carried out?
  • Tramlink compensation

    • Reference: 2004/1268
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 20 October 2004
At the start of August I received confirmation from TfL that residents whose properties have been damaged by the development of Tramlink would soon received compensation from TfL and would be dealt with on an individual basis. My constituents are yet to receive the compensation due. When will TfL arrange for the compensation assessment to be carried out for each resident involved and when will TfL make the appropriate payments?
  • Provision of funding for analysis of current cycle usage

    • Reference: 2004/1269
    • Question by: Andrew Pelling
    • Meeting date: 20 October 2004
Thank you for your answer to question 1052. As a follow up, please advise how far Croydon and Sutton Councils have got with their monitoring of cycling patterns, what the results so far indicate, if any specific targets are set in regards to the monitoring process, whether those targets are being met and if not, why not and what is being done to ensure compliance.
